Nanny Caregiver


Salient features of Home Child Caregiver Provider Pilot (HCCPP) and Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP) Programs, the two economic programs where foreign national caregivers can come from anywhere in the world and become Permanent Resident after working for two years in Canada.

  • Introduced on 18th June 2019 and will end on 18th June 2024, 5 years Nanny/ Caregiver Program.
  • You need a genuine and valid job offer of employment from employer in Canada.
  • Pregnant ladies or children upto 18 years of age or elderly people over 65 years of age with medical conditions, disability or critical illness can hire a nanny/ caregiver.
  • After working for two years and with proof of your employment for the same period, you can apply to get Permanent Residency of Canada.
  • You can file your Work Permit and Permanent Residency case initially after getting your documents evaluated and with just CLB 5 which means you should have 4 bands in Reading, 5 bands each in Listening, Speaking and writing modules of General IELTS.
  • If you are married and have children, you can go together to Canada through HCCPP/HSWP as a family.
  • Your spouse gets open work permit and your children if aged 5 years or over can study free of cost in public schools in Canada.
  • You, the principal applicant will have restricted open work permit.

The household in Canada can hire a foreign national caregiver to provide care, in a private residence, children upto age 18 years, seniors or persons with certified medical needs, when Canadians and permanent residents are not available. Under the HCCPP/HSWP, caregiver/ nanny must:

  • Provide care on a full-time basis (minimum 30 hours per week).
  • Work in the private household where the care is being provided.
